2025...What a year!

As 2025 draws to a close I wanted to reflect back on what has been my busiest year so far in my celebranting journey. This year I conducted 71 weddings, 66 funerals and one very joyful naming ceremony!

Every ceremony that I craft is special and unique, whether it be for a family preparing to say goodbye to a loved one, parents getting ready to welcome a new member to the family, or a happy couple about to embark on one of the happiest days of their life. I take a great pride in working alongside them all to tell their stories and celebrate the occasion in the most appropriate way for them.

I'm lucky enough to work in some of the most stunning settings across my beautiful homeland, and that's a privilege I never take for granted.

From stunning Scottish castles and elegant houses, beautiful beaches and riverbanks, to fantastic miner's clubs and brilliant back gardens, every ceremony has it's own special vibe, and that's always down to the couples and families that I work alongside.

Some of the best moments are the unplanned ones, like the bride whispering to me mid-ceremony that she wants me to mention her husband-to-be's "special" personal grooming practices! The nervous groom who solemnly declares to everyone that, "I, John, take you, David, to be my lawfully wedded wife..." (at which point the room erupted, and I had to remind him that he was marrying Janet, and not me!).

The photos I'm sharing are all ones from weddings I've conducted this year, and which were forwarded to me by the photographers. It's always lovely to receive these, and to look back and remember some of the fantastic couples I've married and venues I've visited.

So, here's to 2026... a new year with new possibilities and lots of exciting new adventures to look forward to. Wherever you are in the world, I hope you have a happy, healthy and successful new year, and as we say here in Scotland "lang may yer lum reek!" (basically, may your home always be warm!).
I'll leave you with a video I recently received from one of the most memorable and fun weddings I conducted this summer. Many thanks to Goof from ADHD Media for forwarding this superb memory of such a brilliant day!
Best
David x
